Bingo Halls: Demystified

Tuesday, February 9, 2010

What is it about this hall that makes the best of players shiver and concede defeat even before the game is started? There must be something, for Bingo Halls do have that quality to terrify even the best of players experienced enough to hold onto their nerves in the most tensed up situations. Do the walls in these halls have hidden sensors that radiate negative waves or does the administrator call the witch doctor for some voodoo magic on players? With all earnestness, all this is bogus and it depends on the players how they react to a particular situation.

Bingo halls are the place where the game of Bingo is played with a whole group of players seated around with tickets. The ones who have the numbers announced on their tickets emerge winners where as others have to wait for their turns next time to win. The Bingo Hall often has an effect on players psychologically and tends to destabilize them from the game. Players doing good and on their way to winning often lose out on that bout and blame the negative vibes that they claim to exist inside the hall, which subsequently hampers their chances of winning.

Many have also said that the halls are supposed to have a proper décor so that players do not get perturbed or that their focus does not get distracted. Apparently, it is not the hall that matters but the luck of the player that does. On a particular day, if the player loses and then the Bingo hall becomes an alibi or a soft target to curse with regards to the loss. But many have also said that the negative vibes and curses left behind by losers often play a part in other results. Nobody has been able to establish any sort of logic behind that argument.

What Lord’s is for Cricket, Bingo halls are for the game of Bingo. The halls have been existent for decades witnessing some spectacular Bingo games and have been testimony to all the wins and losses recorded by players over these years. They have been there and seen it all quietly, absorbing all the euphoria and freezing all the disappointment somewhere in space and time.

At the end of it all, Bingo halls remain the place where it all began and where Bingo gained cult popularity. They are the same four walled structures where millions have come and gone, where dreams were realized and dejections were consoled. They still remain the same edifice where the numbers were called and players who came out victorious demonstrated their euphoria without any apprehensions. Bingo halls, at the end of it all, remain the same place where players either hit the jackpot or leave the room as paupers without anything on their plate. Curse them or love them, but the fact remains that you have to sit there in them to play your chances of winning the bounty and going home rich. They are a part of every Bingo player’s life.
